"Lego House" is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It was released on November 11, 2011, as the third single from his first studio album called "+" (pronounced "plus"), which came out in 2011. In the United States, it was released as the second single on February 11, 2013. The song was written by Sheeran, Jake Gosling, and Chris Leonard, and produced by Jake Gosling.

The song first played on the radio on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show on September 8, 2011. This was Sheeran's first song to be added to the BBC Radio 2 playlist. A remix of the song featuring P Money was first played on MistaJam's BBC Radio 1Xtra show on September 30, 2011. The music video includes actor Rupert Grint, who was chosen because he looks similar to Sheeran. The song performed well globally, reaching the top five on the charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and the UK. It also reached the top fifty in other countries, including the United States.

Composition

The song "Lego House" describes a moment in a relationship when someone sees where it is headed and tries to fix it. The creator used Lego as a symbol to represent the relationship.

According to sheet music published by Jordan James EMI Music Publishing, "Lego House" is a bass song written in the key of B major. Ed Sheeran's vocal range spans from the note B2 to G#4. The song uses guitar and piano for its instrumentation.

Commercial performance

In its sixth week on the UK singles chart, the song reached the No. 5 position. By September 2017, the song had sold 812,000 copies in the UK. It also had 29 million streams, which, when combined with the sales, total 1,105,000 units.

Music videos

The music video for "Lego House" was filmed at the Forum, University of Hertfordshire. It features actor Rupert Grint. The video was released on Sheeran's YouTube channel on October 20, 2011.

The video appears to show Grint as Sheeran, performing actions such as writing song lyrics on paper, relaxing in a tour bus, and taking the stage for a crowd. However, after he reaches the stage, security stops him. It is then revealed that Grint is actually a very interested fan of Sheeran, and the events in the video show him following Sheeran in a way that becomes more intense and concerning. For example, writing the song's lyrics was copying them from an album booklet, and relaxing in the bus was him entering it without permission. The video ends with Grint being removed from the venue by security while Sheeran exits an elevator on his way to perform.

A "Lego-fied" version of the original "Lego House" music video was released on April 11, 2013, on The Warner Sound's YouTube channel. This version uses LEGO bricks to recreate the original video exactly, and it was directed by Shane Ramirez. The video was nominated for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Male Video but did not win, as Bruno Mars's "Locked Out of Heaven" received the award. Grint also plays the same role in the music video for "A Little More," which is from Sheeran's 2025 album Play.

Live performances

In June 2023, during his +−=÷× Tour in Toronto, Sheeran performed the song alongside Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. In August 2023, Sheeran performed the same song at the Lego store located in the Mall of America.
