This album had only one major hit, "Sha-La-La (Make Me Happy)," which reached No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 during the week of December 21, 1974. The album also included the original version of "Take Me to the River," a song that later reached No. 26 on the Billboard chart when covered by Talking Heads in 1978. In 2004, "Take Me to the River" was ranked number 117 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.

This was Al Green’s fifth album in a row to reach No. 1 on the Soul Albums chart, and it reached No. 15 on the Pop Albums chart.
