"Through the Years" is a song written by Steve Dorff and Marty Panzer. American country music artist Kenny Rogers recorded the song. It was released in December 1981 as the fourth and last single from the album Share Your Love.
In early 1982, "Through the Years" reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It stayed in the top 40 for 11 weeks and reached number one on the Adult Contemporary chart. This made it Rogers' fifth single to top that chart. The song also reached number five on the Country chart.
Rogers said "Through the Years" was one of his important career songs. However, it had limited success in North America. He performed the song at the 1983 Grammy Awards and at a halftime event in April 2001 that honored Charles Barkley during a Philadelphia 76ers game.
During his 50th anniversary TV special, Rogers performed the song with his friends Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton. The performance included old videos showing him working with both artists on different projects over the years.
