Maid Sama! is an anime series based on a manga of the same name by Hiro Fujiwara. It was created by J.C.Staff and directed by Hiroaki Sakurai. The story follows the relationship between Misaki Ayuzawa, the female student council president at Seika High School, which was originally an all-boys school but now has both boys and girls, though still mostly boys. Misaki secretly works part-time at a maid café to help support her family. Takumi Usui, the most popular boy at the school, knows about her secret job.
The anime first aired in Japan from April 1 to September 23, 2010, on the Tokyo Broadcasting System. It was also broadcast in Asia three days later, from April 4 to September 26, 2010, on Animax Asia with English subtitles. In North America, The Anime Network began streaming the series online on June 15, 2010, and made it available for Video On Demand on August 5, 2010. Sentai Filmworks, now owned by AMC Networks, holds the license for the series in North America. Animax Asia's English version of the anime aired in Southeast Asia from November 25 to December 30, 2010.
The opening theme, titled "My Secret," was performed by Saaya Mizuno. It was released on May 26, 2010, in normal and special editions. It reached number 37 on the Oricon singles charts. The first ending theme, "Yokan" (予感), was performed by the rock band Heidi. This song was also released on May 26, 2010, in normal and special editions, and reached number 32 on the Oricon singles charts. The second ending theme, "∞Loop" (∞ ループ), also performed by Heidi, was released on August 25, 2010, in normal and special editions. It reached number 48 on the Oricon singles charts.
