Horimiya is an anime television series made by CloverWorks. It is based on a manga series written by Daisuke Hagiwara, which was adapted from a webcomic called Hori-san to Miyamura-kun by HERO. The series had 13 episodes and was shown between January and April 2021. The story shows how two high school students develop a relationship.
The first season of the series had 13 episodes and was broadcast on MBS television between January and April 2023. After the 13th episode aired, a sequel titled Horimiya: The Missing Pieces was announced. This sequel included chapters from the manga that were not animated in the first series. It was shown between July and September 2023.
Plot
The story follows the growing relationship between two high school students, Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura. Kyouko is known for being popular and appearing happy, while Izumi is quiet and keeps to himself. However, outside of school, their personalities are very different from how others see them. A chance meeting after school helps them learn about each other's hidden sides, leading to a strong connection that eventually becomes a romantic relationship.

The anime series was announced on September 17, 2020. CloverWorks animated the series, and Masashi Ishihama directed it. Takao Yoshioka created the series' story, Haruko Iizuka designed the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama composed the music. The series aired from January 10 to April 4, 2021, on Tokyo MX and other channels. The opening theme song, "Iro Kōsui" ("Color Perfume"), was performed by Yoh Kamiyama. The ending theme song, "Yakusoku" ("Promise"), was performed by Friends.
Funimation made the series available on its website in North America, the British Isles, Mexico, and Brazil. In Europe, Wakanim streamed it, and in Australia and New Zealand, AnimeLab provided access. On February 5, 2021, Funimation announced an English dub, which started the next day. After Sony bought Crunchyroll, the series moved to Crunchyroll. Medialink licensed the series in Southeast Asia and South Asia and streamed it on Bilibili only in Southeast Asia. Medialink later streamed the first episode on their Ani-One YouTube channel for a short time, from February 13 to March 15, 2021. They also licensed the anime to Animax Asia for TV broadcast.
