This Little Girl of Mine

"This Little Girl of Mine" is a rhythm and blues song written and released by Ray Charles in 1955 on the Atlantic label. The song was inspired by "This Little Light of Mine," similar to earlier songs like "I Got a Woman" and later songs like "Hallelujah I Love Her So," which were also based on classic gospel hymns. These songs changed sacred religious lyrics to secular blues lyrics and included doo-wop-style call-and-response singing.

"This Little Girl of Mine" was the B-side to Charles' number-one R&B single, "A Fool for You." It became a successful song on its own, reaching number nine on the chart.

The song was later recorded by The Everly Brothers in 1958, becoming a top 40 pop hit. It should not be confused with the 1981 song "This Little Girl" by Gary U.S. Bonds.
